Lowest US Steel Imports Since February
US steel imports dropped to a nine-month low of 2.6 Mt in November, well below the 2017 peak of 3.6 Mt achieved in June, according to preliminary import licence data from the US Census Bureau. Shipments were almost unchanged from the year-ago level in November however, strong growth in the preceding months means that, at 32.3 Mt, imports in January-November have already exceeded the 2016 total of 29.9 Mt.
