Indonesian Minor Bulk Exports
Combined exports of Indonesian nickel ore and bauxite jumped 1.0 Mt year-on-year in July to 3.4 Mt, Bank Indonesia reports. At 22.7 Mt, combined exports in January-July were up 7.5 Mt on the corresponding period last year.
Chinese Industrial Output at 17-Year Low
Chinese industrial production slowed by 4.4% year-on-year in August, its slowest rate of growth since February 2002, the National Bureau of Statistics reports.
Chinese Steel Output in August
China’s crude steel production reached 87.3 Mt in August, a 9.3% year-on-year gain, according to the latest data from the country’s National Bureau of Statistics. At 664.9 Mt, output in the year to date rose 9.1% on the same period in 2018.

EU Steel Exports in July
EU steel exports climbed 0.1 Mt year-on-year in July to 1.8 Mt, according to Eurofer. Despite this, at 12.3 Mt, exports in January-July were still marginally below the corresponding period in 2018.
Daily Crude Steel Production in China
At a rate of 2.05 Mt, daily crude steel output in China during 11-20 August edged up from the 1-10 August reading, data from Umetal reveal.
Chinese Passenger Car Sales
Chinese passenger car sales dropped 7.7% year-on-year in August to 1.7 million units, according to the Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers. At 13.3 million units, sales in January-August were 12.3% below the corresponding period in 2018.
