South Korean Coal Imports in January
South Korean total coal imports in February grew 0.2 Mt year-on-year to 11.7 Mt, IHS reports. Coking coal shipments drove the overall increase, rising 0.4 Mt to 2.1 Mt. Meanwhile, steam coal imports (including anthracite) fell 0.2 Mt to 9.6 Mt.
Taiwanese Coal Imports in January
Taiwan’s coal imports (including anthracite) in January expanded by 0.9 Mt year-on-year to 5.9 Mt, according to the latest data from IHS.
Brazil’s Iron Ore Exports February Breakdown
The 5.1 Mt year-on-year increase in Brazilian iron ore exports in February to 28.9 Mt featured an increase in shipments to China, up 3.2 Mt to 16.9 Mt, according to Tex Report. Similarly, exports to Japan (+0.4 Mt to 1.2 Mt) and Malaysia (+0.4 Mt to 2.4 Mt) also expanded in February.
Turkey’s Crude Steel Production Down
Turkish crude steel production fell year-on-year for the fifth consecutive month in February, down 12.5% to 2.6 Mt, according to the Steel Producers’ Association of Turkey. January-February steel production totalled 5.2 Mt, decreasing by 16.1% on the same period last year.
