US Grain Shipments Slow
Flooding and high water levels along the lower Mississippi continue to disrupt cargo loading in the region. US exports of corn, wheat and soyabeans combined dropped to the lowest level since September 2017 at 1.81 Mt in the week ending the 13 June as both corn and soyabean shipments slowed.
Japan’s Steel Output Slows Further
Japanese crude steel production fell on an annual basis for the ninth consecutive month in May, dropping by 4.6% to 8.7 Mt, the Japanese Iron and Steel Federation reports. As a consequence, output in the first five months of the year was down by 4.3% on the same period in 2018 at 42.3 Mt.
