Port Hedland Iron Ore Throughput in August
Iron ore throughput at Port Hedland rose 3.0 Mt year-on-year in August to 45.4 Mt, port authority data show. The rise featured an increase in shipments to China (+2.6 Mt to 38.1 Mt), Japan (+0.3 Mt to 2.3 Mt) and South Korea (+1.2 Mt to 4.1 Mt).
Chinese Daily Crude Steel Output
Daily crude steel production during 1-10 August at China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills rose to 2.05 Mt, up from the 21-31 July rate of 2.00 Mt, data from Umetal reveal.

US Coking Coal Exports Drop in July
At 2.9 Mt, US coking coal exports (excluding cargoes to Canada) fell to their lowest level since October 2016 in July, dropping 0.9 Mt year-on-year, the country’s National Mining Association reports. Meanwhile, steam coal exports fell 1.8 Mt to 2.5 Mt.
Australian Iron Ore Exports in July
Australian iron ore exports (wet basis) climbed 3.4 Mt year-on-year in July to 73.1 Mt, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics. Nonetheless, exports in January-July were some 13.3 Mt behind the corresponding volume in 2018.
