Vale Brucutu Mine Suspended
On 6 May Vale announced that the Minas Gerais Court of Justice had suspended the previous ruling that had authorized the resumption of mining operations at the Laranjeiras tailings dam and Brucutu mine. Vale has stopped wet processing operations at 30 Mtpa mine.
China’s Hengyi Refinery Commences Trial Operations
The 175K b/d Hengyi refinery in Brunei owned by China’s Zhejiang Hengyi group has commenced trial operations, Reuters reports citing Xinhua News Agency. The plant is expected to reach full capacity during 3Q19.

Eurozone Economic Growth Remains in Decline
The IHS Eurozone Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) in April rose 0.4 month-on-month to 47.9, still well below the threshold on 50.0 that separates expansion from contraction, and the second-lowest reading in six years. Continued decline remained the strongest in Germany.
