South Korean Coking Coal and Iron Ore Imports Drop
At 1.8 Mt, South Korean coking coal imports tumbled to a six-year low in September, falling 1.4 Mt year-on-year, according to the Tex Report. Meanwhile, imports of iron ore fell to the lowest level since February at 5.1 Mt, but were flat year-on-year.
Japanese Steel Output Falls in September
Japanese steel production fell 0.4 Mt year-on-year to 8.0 Mt, the second-lowest month of the past decade, data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation show. Meanwhile, at 75.6 Mt, production in January-September was at a ten-year low.

Turkish Steel Output in September
At 2.7 Mt, Turkey’s crude steel production fell by 6.9% year-on-year in September, the Turkish Steel Producers Association reports. Output in the year to date was down 10.1% on the corresponding period in 2018 at 25.3 Mt.
