Thailand Coal Imports in the 1Q19
The 1q19 saw Thailand import 6.0 Mt of all coal types, up 0.5 Mt year-on-year, according to the latest data from IHS. This total featured an increase in shipments from Australia, up 0.1 Mt on year ago levels to 1.0 Mt.
Brazilian Crude Steel Production in the 1Q19
Brazilian crude steel output declined by 9% year-on-year to 2.8 Mt in March, official data show. Total production in the year to date slipped 3% on last year levels to 8.4 Mt.
Indian Coal Imports in March
IHS provisionally estimate India’s March steam coal imports at 16.7 Mt (based on data from ports, shipping companies and customs departments) which would be up 17% year-on-year. Meanwhile coking coal imports in March were down 18% to an estimated 4.4 Mt.
Chinese Coking and Steam Coal Imports in March
The 3.2 Mt year-on-year fall in Chinese coal imports in March to 23.5 Mt featured a 5.5 Mt fall in steam coal (including anthracite and lignite) shipments to 7.8 Mt, while coking coal imports rose 2.1 Mt to 6.1 Mt.
Chinese Daily Steel Output in Early-April
Daily crude steel production in 1-10 April at China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills grew by 6.3% year-on-year to 2.0 Mt, the highest level since November 2018, according to data from the industry association reported by Umetal.
