Chinese Steam Coal Price Falls as Port Stocks Rise
Coal
The Bohai Rim Steam Coal Price Index (BSPI) fell to $75.63/t at the end of last week, and the lowest level since the index's inception in mid-October 2010. This compares with $84.45/t at the end of 2014. The index is based on the FOB coal prices collected from major coal ports along the Bohai coast in north China. This price decline came as combined coal stockpiles at four major ports in the region (Qinhuangdao, Tianjin, Jingtang and Caofeidian) rose 0.6 Mt to 24.2 Mt, up 7.0 Mt year-on-year.
