US Coal Exports Fall

Coal exports from the US (excl. cargoes to Canada) fell to 5.8 Mt in February, down 1.6 Mt year-on-year, according to official data. This meant the export total for January and February combined, of 12.5 Mt, was the lowest since 2010. Coking coal exports fell to their lowest level since July 2009 in February at 2.9 Mt, down 1.7 Mt year-on-year, while steam coal exports rose slightly to 2.9 Mt.
