Iron Ore Exports from Brazil and Australia Surge

Brazilian iron ore exports climbed to their highest level since the start of 2015 in July at 34.0 Mt, up 2.8 Mt year-on-year, according to trade ministry data. Shipments for the period January-July totalled 201.8 Mt, up 13.8 Mt on the same period last year. Australian iron ore exports surged to an all-time high of 71.2 Mt (wet basis) in June, up 9.3 Mt year-on-year, according to official data. Total exports for the 1h15 were up 32.3 Mt on the 1h14 at 388.2 Mt. Coking coal exports also rose to an all-time high, of 17.1 Mt, in June, up 0.6 Mt year-on-year, while there was a 1.9 Mt rise in shipments of steam coal and anthracite combined to 17.9 Mt.
