US refinery outages boost demand for European gasoline
A string of refinery outages in the US and robust domestic gasoline demand have provided a counter-cyclical boost for US purchases of European gasoline, Reuters reports. BP's 414K b/d Whiting refinery is expected to undergo maintenance for a month to repair a 240K b/d crude unit. An 88K b/d fluid catalytic cracking unit at Philadelphia Energy Solutions refinery was closed due to technical issues after an attempt to bring it back to full capacity. Additionally, Marathon Petroleum Corporation has shut its 212K b/d Robinson, Illinois refinery for more than two months of work.
