Western European Steel Price Rises
According to the latest World Steel Dynamics SteelBenchmarker, the Western European domestic price for hot rolled band (HRB) rose $13/t in the period 30 April-13 May to its highest level since late February at $450/t. Meanwhile, over the same period, the Chinese and US domestic HRB prices edged up $2/t and $3/t, to $335/t and $501/t, respectively. This is the first time the US HRB price has risen since mid-November 2014. By contrast, the world export price slipped by $6/t to $384/t, which is its lowest since December 2003.
