US Coal Exports Fall in September


US coal exports continued to perform weakly in September, falling 2.2 Mt year-on-year to 4.4 Mt, according to data from the country's National Mining Association. Coking coal shipments dropped to 2.8 Mt in September, down 1.6 Mt, while steam coal exports fell by 0.5 Mt to a three-month low of 1.6 Mt. In an indication of the decline of the US coal trade this year, shipments of all coal types for January-September were down by over 20% (14.4 Mt) on the same period in 2014 at 49.2 Mt.
