Sharp Falls in Steel Prices

The Western European domestic price for hot rolled band (HRB) plunged by $21/t in the two weeks 14-28 October to its lowest level since November 2003 at $376/t, according to the latest SteelBenchmarker from World Steel Dynamics. There was a similarly sharp fall, of $16/t, in the US HRB price, to $462/t, while a decline of $6/t saw the Chinese HRB price fall to its lowest level in over 13 years at $253/t.
