Iron Ore Exports from Brazil at 6-month low, grain exports slip

After hitting a year-to-date high in July, Brazilian iron ore exports retreated by 20.2% month-on-month and 4.0% year-on-year to 27.1 Mt in August, according to trade ministry data. This was the lowest monthly level since February, however, total exports during the January-August period of 228.9 Mt were still up 12.7 Mt on the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, August saw the country's combined exports of soya (bean+meal) and corn slip to 8.1 Mt from 11.4 Mt in July and 8.2 Mt in August 2014.
