Brazilian Iron Ore Exports Increase in March

Brazilian iron ore exports rose sharply to 36.4 Mt in March, up from 25.7 Mt in February and up by 6.1 Mt year-on-year, official trade ministry data show. Brazil exported 91.0 Mt of iron ore in the 1q17, up by 5.8 Mt on the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the country exported 10.1 Mt of soya (beans & meal) in March, up by 0.3 Mt year-on-year, as shipments climb towards their seasonal peak in the 2q. By contrast, corn exports remained exceptionally weak at just 0.2 Mt, only a fraction of the 2.0 Mt shipped in the same month last year.
