US Coal exports Rise Further in February
US coal exports (excl. cargoes to Canada) rose by 2.2 Mt year-on-year to 6.1 Mt in February as shipments of both coking and steam coal increased, according to the country’s National Mining Association. Coking coal exports climbed by 0.4 Mt to 3.4 Mt in February, while a sharp increase in cargoes to Europe contributed to a 1.9 Mt rise in steam coal cargoes to 2.7 Mt. The US exported 12.4 Mt of all coal types in January-February combined, well above the year-ago level of 7.6 Mt.
