Colombia’s Coal Exports Decline on Lower Shipments to Europe
Colombian steam coal exports fell by 1.4 Mt year-on-year to 7.1 Mt in July, the second consecutive month shipments have fallen on an annual basis, as exports to Europe (incl. Turkey) dropped by 2.0 Mt to a three-month low of 3.7 Mt, IHS Energy reports. By contrast, there was modest growth in exports to the Americas (+0.5 Mt to 2.7 Mt) and Asia (+0.1 Mt to 0.6 Mt). Colombia exported 49.8 Mt of coal in January-July, 0.7 Mt lower than the same period in 2016.
