Strong Brazilian Iron Ore Exports in January

Brazil exported 28.9 Mt of iron ore in January, up 3.9 Mt year-on-year, customs data show. Although down from 35.1 Mt in December (shipments traditionally dip at the start of the year), this was still the highest January export total on record. Meanwhile, the country’s soya exports (beans & meal) rose to 2.3 Mt in January, up 0.7 Mt year-on-year, while, by contrast, corn shipments were exceptionally weak at just 1.5 Mt, down 3.0 Mt on January 2016.
