Three-Month High for Canadian Coking Coal Exports
Canadian coking coal exports (excl. US cargoes) rose by 0.3 Mt year-on-year in November to a three-month high of 2.5 Mt, according to IHS Energy. Growth was primarily driven by stronger shipments to South Korea and Europe. As a result, coking coal exports from Canada in January-November were up by 0.2 Mt on the same period in 2015, at 24.8 Mt, the first time in 2016 year-to-date exports have climbed above the year-ago level.
