Canadian Iron Ore Exports
Canadian iron ore exports (excl. cargoes to the US) fell by 0.5 Mt year-on-year in May to 3.4 Mt however, this was still a six-month high for shipments, according to the Tex Report. Cargoes to Europe declined by 0.4 Mt, to 1.8 Mt, while exports to China dropped by almost half to 0.7 Mt. Nevertheless, Canada’s iron ore exports in the first five months of 2017 were still up by 0.8 Mt on the same period last year at 16.7 Mt.
