Turkish Coal Imports

After a weak month in April, when shipments dropped to a three-year low, Turkish steam coal imports (incl. anthracite) rebounded to 2.4 Mt in May, up by 0.8 Mt year-on-year, as shipments from Colombia and Russia increased, according to IHS Energy. By contrast, coking coal imports declined by 0.1 Mt to 0.4 Mt. Turkey imported 14.0 Mt of all coal types in the first five months of the year, up by 0.5 Mt on the same period in 2016.
