South Korean Coal Imports
Coal
South Korean steam coal imports (incl. anthracite) dropped to a seven-month low of 9.0 Mt in May as shipments from South Africa and Indonesia retreated, IHS Energy reports. However, a very weak import total for May 2016 meant they were still up by 1.3 Mt year-on-year. By contrast, coking coal imports climbed to a four-month high of 2.2 Mt, almost unchanged from a year-ago. South Korea imported 60.6 Mt of all coal types in January-May, up by 6.9 Mt year-on-year.
