Turkish Steam and Coking Coal Imports Diverge

Coal

Turkish coal imports slumped to the lowest level in over three years in April at 2.1 Mt, down by 0.4 Mt year-on-year, according to IHS Energy. This decline was due to a sharp 0.8 Mt drop in imports of steam coal and anthracite combined to 1.4 Mt, the lowest level since April 2014. By contrast, at 0.7 Mt, coking coal imports were at the highest level since 2010 and more than double the year-ago level.
