Chinese Iron Ore, Coal & Soyabean Imports Rise in February

Chinese iron ore imports rose by 9.9 Mt year-on-year in February to 83.5 Mt, meaning the country’s iron ore imports saw annual growth of 19.7 Mt, to 175.5 Mt, in the first two months of 2017, customs data show.
Similarly, China’s coal imports (incl. lignite) rose on an annual basis for the seventh consecutive month in February, climbing 4.1 Mt to 17.7 Mt. There was also a 1.0 Mt increase in soyabean inbound shipments to 5.5 Mt.
By contrast, Chinese steel exports continued to decline in February, dropping by 2.4 Mt year-on-year to a three-year low of 5.8 Mt.
