Taiwan’s Iron Ore Imports Increase
Taiwanese iron ore imports rose by 1.0 Mt year-on-year to 6.3 Mt in the 1q17 as shipments from all major suppliers increased, according to the Tex Report. This included a monthly record for imports from Australia in March of 2.1 Mt.
US 1q17 GDP Growth Revised Up
The US Department of Commerce has revised up its estimate of the country’s 1q17 GDP growth to an annual rate of 1.2%, up from an initial estimate of 0.7%, citing stronger increases in investment and expenditure than previously thought. Nevertheless, this remains below 4q16 growth of 2.1%.
