Chinese Electricity Production Rises in April
Strong growth in thermal power generation (+5.7% to 3,522 million kWh) helped Chinese electricity production rise by 5.4% year-on-year in April to 4,767 million kWh, National Bureau of Statistics data show. Nuclear, wind and solar power generation also increased, but the combined total still accounted for only around 10% of total output. By contrast, hydro power generation declined by 5.4% to 743 million kWh in April. Power generation from all sources in January-April was up by 6.6% on the same period last year.
