Chinese Steel Production in October
Economy, Iron Ore
China produced 72.4 Mt of crude steel in October, the country’s National Bureau of Statistics reports. Although up by 6.1% year-on-year, this still represented the lowest rate of daily production at Chinese mills since May as output in October was impacted by both national holidays and anti-pollution measures. Steel output in the first ten months of the year was also up by 6.1% on the same period in 2016 at 709.5 Mt.
Meanwhile, annual industrial production growth in China retreated to 6.2% in October, down from 6.6% in September and the second-lowest month of the year.
