Canadian Coking Coal Exports Highest Since March
Canadian coking coal exports (excl. shipments to the US) climbed to a five-month high of 2.5 Mt in August, although only up slightly year-on-year, according to IHS Energy. There was strong growth in shipments to China (+0.1 Mt to 0.4 Mt) and South Korea (+0.3 Mt to 0.8 Mt), although exports to European destinations declined. At 18.1 Mt, exports in the first eight months of the year were up by 0.1 Mt on the same period in 2016, with the majority of shipments being to longhaul destinations in South East Asia.
