Record South Korean Coal Imports in September

South Korean coal imports climbed to a monthly all-time high of 14.6 Mt in September, up by 2.1 Mt year-on-year, as strong shipments from Indonesia helped lift steam coal imports (incl. anthracite) to a record 12.2 Mt (+2.1 Mt year-on-year), IHS Energy reports. Meanwhile, higher shipments from Canada helped lift the country’s coking coal imports to a three-month high of 2.4 Mt. South Korea imported 113.3 Mt of coal in January-September, up by 14.8 Mt on the same period in 2016.
