US Announces Anti-Dumping Measures on Steel Imports

Following a seven month investigation, instigated at the request of four domestic steel producers, the US Commerce Department has announced preliminary anti-dumping measures on imports of carbon and alloy steel wire rod from producers in Italy (22.06%), South Korea (10.09%), South Africa (135.46% to 142.26%), Spain (20.25% to 32.64%), Turkey (2.80% to 8.01%), Ukraine (34.98% to 44.03%) and the United Kingdom (41.96% to 147.63%). A final ruling is due in early January 2018.
This Commerce Department investigation is running in parallel with a separate US International Trade Commission (USITC) inquiry into steel trade. This US imported 26.9 Mt of steel in January-September, up by 4.4 Mt year-on-year.
