World Steel Production Growth Slows on Weaker Chinese Output

World crude steel production in September rose 5.6% year-on-year to 141.4 Mt, the World Steel Association reports, with Chinese steel output falling to the lowest level since February at 71.8 Mt (still up by 5.3 year-on-year). Lifted by output growth in Europe (+4.4% to 17.0 Mt), Japan (+2.0% to 8.6 Mt) India (+1.9% o 8.2 Mt) and US (+8.6% to 6.7 Mt), steel production in the world excluding China climbed to a four-month high of 69.6 Mt, up 5.8% year-on-year.
World steel production in January-September was up by 5.6% on the same period last year at 1,266.9 Mt.
