Shell Convent Refinery Shut by Fire
Royal Dutch Shell Plc's Convent Louisiana Refinery shut on Tuesday night after a fire broke out in one of the refinery's electrical substations, newswires report. Meanwhile, the refinery was already scheduled to begin planned overhaul next week on its 45,000 b/d oil hydrocracker which would shut half of the production capacity for up to one month. At present, it is unclear whether the fire will affect the timing of the planned overhaul in any extent. This is the second fire at the Convent Refinery this year and third since 11 August 2016.
