US Coal Exports in May
US coal exports (excl. cargoes to Canada) slowed to a three-month low of 8.2 Mt in May, although still up by 2.2 Mt year-on-year, according to the National Mining Association. Annual growth was driven by steam coal shipments, up 1.4 Mt to 3.7 Mt, while coking coal exports increased by 0.8 Mt to 4.6 Mt. At 42.0 Mt, exports of all coal types in January-May were up by 10 Mt on the same five months in 2017.
