Chinese iron ore imports eased by 0.5 Mt year-on-year to 85.9 Mt in March, provisional customs data show. Iron ore receipts in 1q20 rose by just under 2.0 Mt on the year to 262.8 Mt, but fell from 284.8 Mt in 4q19.

Meanwhile, the country’s coal imports rose on the year (+4.4 Mt) to 27.8 Mt in March, while overall 1q20 coal imports climbed to 95.9 Mt from 74.6 Mt during the same period in 2019.

China’s soyabean receipts fell to 4.3 Mt in March (-0.6 Mt year-on-year). However, 1q20 soyabean imports rose to 17.8 Mt (+1.0 Mt on the year).
