Global Crude Steel Output Falls in March

World Steel Association data show, global crude steel production declined by 6.0% year-on-year to 147.1 Mt in March as output in the world outside China plunged by 10.6% to 68.1 Mt, the steepest fall since September 2009.
Output from China slipped by 1.7% year-on-year to 79.0 Mt, while Indian production declined by 13.9% to 8.7 Mt. Elsewhere, US and EU production fell to 7.2 Mt (-6.0%) and 12.0 Mt (-20.4%), respectively.
World production eased by 1.3% on the year to 442.3 Mt in 1q20, with estimated Chinese output up by 1.4% to 233.7 Mt.
