Queensland Coal Exports Drop in March

Combined Queensland coal exports from Gladstone, Dalrymple Bay, Hay Point and Abbot Point fell by 2.2 Mt year-on-year to 16.5 Mt in March, a 13-month low, port authority data show.
All four ports posted annual declines in coal exports, led by a 1.4 Mt drop at Hay Point to 3.3 Mt in March. Meanwhile, exports from Gladstone and Dalrymple Bay were down by 0.3 Mt apiece to 5.8 Mt and 5.0 Mt, respectively. Coal shipments from Abbot Point eased by 0.2 Mt on the year to 2.4 Mt in March.
Weaker March exports weighed on 1q20 coal loadings, which declined by 0.8 Mt on the year to 51.6 Mt.
