Turkish Steam Coal Imports Edge Higher

Turkish steam coal imports inched up to 2.3 Mt in February, rising on the year for a fifth consecutive month (+0.1 Mt), according to data gathered by IHS. Receipts from key supplier Colombia were flat on the year at 1.3 Mt in February, while imports of Russian product grew to 0.9 Mt (+0.2 Mt). However, total steam coal arrivals fell from 3.4 Mt in January to a seven-month low.
Meanwhile, the country’s coking coal imports declined by 0.3 Mt from the same month in 2019 to 0.2 Mt in February, the lowest since March 2017.
