US commercial crude stocks have reached their highest levels since May 2017 as they increased by 15M bbls to 519M bbls during the week ending 17 April, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Refineries were utilising 67.6% of their operational capacity as throughputs fell by 209K b/d w-o-w to 12.46M b/d, their lowest since September 2008 and 4.13M b/d down on the year. Gasoline stocks reached record highs in the EIA's data which goes back to 1990, as they grew by 1M bbls w-o-w to 263.2M bbls, a figure 37.4M bbls higher than this time last year.
