US Gulf of Mexico oil output slashed due to storm threat
Oil
Energy firms have shut-in around 1.07M b/d of offshore oil production in the US Gulf of Mexico, due to the increasing threat posed by Tropical Storm Laura and Hurricane Marco, which are both expected to make landfall along the coast this week, according to the US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE). This shut-in of production accounts for 58% of the total oil output capacity in the Gulf of Mexico, with personnel currently evacuated from 114 production platforms, which is around 18% of the total 643 manned platforms in the area.
