HRB Prices Jump

The US hot-rolled band (HRB) price surged $158/t in the three weeks to 14 December to a two-year high of $947/t, according to the latest SteelBenchmarker from World Steel Dynamics.
Elsewhere, price gains were less sharp but still substantial. The Chinese HRB price climbed $55/t during the same period to $578/t, the highest since April 2012. The Western European HRB price increased $31/t to a more than two-year peak of $666/t.
