Total South African coal exports (including overland volumes and anthracite) declined 0.1 Mt year-on-year to 7.1 Mt in October, customs data show. Nonetheless, steady shipments to key buyers India and Pakistan meant overall exports were still an 11-month high. Loadings in the first ten-months of 2020 declined 2.6 Mt to 61.9 Mt.

Iron ore exports fell 0.5 Mt on the year to 4.7 Mt in October, bringing year to date shipments to 52.8 Mt (-2.1 Mt).

Meanwhile, manganese ore exports climbed 0.5 Mt to 2.2 Mt in October, the highest level since at least January 2010. However, loadings in the year so far were down 0.6 Mt to 16.0 Mt.
