Hot Rolled Band Prices Rise

All four hot rolled band (HRB) prices assessed by World Steel Dynamics’ SteelBenchmarker rose in the three weeks to 15 January. The US HRB price experienced the largest growth, up $27/t to $638/t, although it remains almost $170/t below the year-ago level. This was accompanied by increases in both the Western European (+$11/t to $488/t) and Chinese (+$4/t to $467/t) prices. The World export price was up by $20/t to $495/t.
