Japanese Steel Exports Drop

At 8.3 Mt, Japanese steel exports dropped 0.6 Mt annually in the 4q19, data from the Japan Iron and Steel Federation reveal. The fall featured declines in exports to Asia (-0.8 Mt to 6.5 Mt) and North America (-0.1 Mt to 0.3 Mt), while shipments to Europe edged up 0.1 Mt to 0.2 Mt. Exports in 2019 totalled 33.8 Mt, down 2.7 Mt on the 2018 level.
