CISA Crude Steel Production Eases Slightly in Late June

Crude steel output from China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) member mills softened to 2.14 Mt/day in the final ten-days of June, data from the industry organisation show. Nonetheless, production was still near its record high.

Meanwhile, steel stockpiles in major Chinese cities rose by 0.4 Mt from 24 June to 14.8 Mt on 3 July, according to U-Metal. Even as inventories have dwindled since peaking in March, they remained above July 2019 levels which averaged just over 12.0 Mt.
