Japanese Iron Ore and Coal Imports Drop in June

Japanese iron ore imports plummeted by 32.1% year-on-year to 6.2 Mt last month, preliminary data from the finance ministry show. Receipts in June were the lowest since March 2009, bringing provisional 1h20 imports to 50.2 Mt (-15% on the year).
The country’s coal imports fell by 6.3% to 13.1 Mt in June. However, receipts edged up from just 12.4 Mt in May, while January-June imports eased by 1% year-on-year to 88.4 Mt.
