Taiwan’s Mailiao oil refinery forced to cut throughput following fire

Formosa Petrochemical Corporation has had to reduce refinery runs at its 540K b/d Mailiao oil refinery in Taiwan from 80% to 68%, following the shutdown of a secondary unit due to a fire last week, a spokesman for the refinery told Reuters. It is currently unclear when operations at the secondary unit will be able to resume but shipments of gasoline and diesel in August would be affected, the spokesman said.
