Turkish Coal Imports Ease in May

Coal

Turkish steam coal (including anthracite) and coking coal imports inched down by 0.1 Mt apiece year-on-year to 2.1 Mt and 0.6 Mt, respectively, data collected by IHS show. However, total coal imports rose from a three-year low in April, of which steam coal accounted for 1.8 Mt and coking 0.3 Mt.

Receipts of Colombian steam coal were flat on the year at 1.2 Mt, while imports of Russian product fell slightly to 0.9 Mt (-0.1 Mt).

US product made up the majority of coking coal imports, growing to 0.5 Mt from 0.2 Mt in May 2019. This nearly offset receipts from Australia dropping to zero from 0.5 Mt.
