Australian Iron Ore and Coal Exports Diverge in April

Australian iron ore exports rose by 7.1 Mt year-on-year to 77.9 Mt (wet basis) in April, Australian Bureau of Statistics data show. Exports to China grew to 65.9 Mt in April (+8.1 Mt on the year), while those to South Korea and Japan declined. Overall shipments eased from a three-month high of 78.8 Mt in March.
Meanwhile, Australian coking coal exports dropped to a 14-month low of 13.4 Mt in April (-0.2 Mt year-on-year). Steam coal shipments were down by 1.3 Mt to 16.1 Mt.
